The "Point of Power" Virtual Workshop

πŸ“… Date: March 9th | πŸ•€ Time: 9:30-10:30 AM

Pear Tree School is excited to invite you to a transformative experience that could redefine your approach to leadership, personal growth, and how we empower our children.

The "Point of Power" is a wonderful concept that teaches us the importance of taking ownership, accountability, and responsibility for our actions. Moving away from blame, excuses, and denial, it empowers us to make positive changes in our lives and the lives of those around us.

Point of Power

What is the 'Point of Power'?

The "Point of Power", also known as the OARBED / Above the Line mindset (associated with Robert Kiyosaki, Bobbi DePorter and Marshall Thurber), is a transformative concept that revolves around taking ownership of our actions, decisions, and, ultimately, our lives.

It's about recognizing that we hold the power to influence outcomes and change through our responses to life's challenges and opportunities.

This principle teaches us to move away from blame, excuses, and denial, which often hold us back, and instead, step into a space of accountability and empowerment.

OAR: Ownership, Accountability, Responsibility

  • Ownership: Taking full ownership of your actions and their outcomes, acknowledging your role in achieving success or facing challenges without attributing it to external factors.
  • Accountability: Holding yourself accountable for your decisions, behaviors, and results. It means being answerable not only to yourself but also to those affected by your actions.
  • Responsibility: Embracing the duty to respond proactively to situations, challenges, and opportunities. It's about being reliable and making choices that reflect your commitments and values.

BED: Blame, Excuses, Denial

  • Blame: Attributing failures or undesirable outcomes to external circumstances or the actions of others, avoiding personal reflection or change.
  • Excuses: Justifying inaction, lack of progress, or failures by presenting reasons that prevent personal accountability.
  • Denial: Refusing to acknowledge your role or the reality of a situation, thereby evading the opportunity for learning and growth.

Why It Matters

  • For Students: It instills confidence and resilience, teaching them to take initiative and learn from every experience.
  • For Parents / Leaders: It changes our perspective on our challenges and roles, guiding us to lead by example and foster a supportive environment for problem-solving and growth.
